J-F To the land of the rising sun

Our Quebec rider Jean-Francois Boulianne did very well placing 23rd at the 2009 KOG round 2 in Komatsu, Japan. JF thought it would be nice to write a small review on his trip, so here it is!
J-F to the land of the rising sun
As soon as i came back from Ninja Spin in Monaco I bought my plane ticket to go to Japan. It was going to be so cool chilling with every rider on the circuit that i would not miss this opportunity to go to KOG Round 2 (so close to China anyway ahahah). So i met Yohei Uchino and he told me i could come to his house. What a great plan, he came to pick me up at Narita airport and we waited one hour for A Bad Thing crew straight from Paris (Best flatland team on the planet and great crew to hangout with).

After 2 hours in the car we arrived in Tokyo. We all hit dinner at a Japanese BBQ, the food was awesome and the service and respect of the Japanese people is outstanding. The next day we went to pick-up Raphael and his very nice girlfriend Marie (who let me crash in there house in Paris and cook me some awesome Pasta). and we went to chill in the city. Now it is time to talk about KOG the biggest Flatland contest on the planet. So Uchiee rented a car so that we could all make the road together to Komatsu(hometown of those big lift and York Uno) and at 10PM we all split in the car and hit the 9 hour road that we had in front of us. Matthias and me grabed some beer so the road would be easier while Raphael was sleeping beside me with his girl.

I dont usually like to book for hotel room since i am always traveling by myself but Matthias had free Red Bull room for one person (japanese size) so we crashed 4 on the first night ahhahaah. The next day i went see an old Samurai Temple it was one of the best monuments i have ever seen, it made me replenish myself before the contest along with the after jam at the outside spot near the contest. Drink 2 beer and went to sleep pretty early because the next day was a big one. So contest day, we had a big breakfest with the boys then we went to ride, i rode maybe 4 hours and only drinking Pocari sweet (water with vitamins) and then it started to rain 2 hours before the pro class.
There was a crapy covered spot so Martti and Vicky rode a bit to stay warm and I rode all the time. Now was the time for my run and for a guy that stresses a lot this time was not so bad. I managed my run and only touched once I was very happy with my riding, I saved myself a couple of times but maybe didnt try my hardest moves so i finish 23rd whatever. The second i knew i was not qualifying, i went to the corner store and grabed a beer to watch the finals. Terry Adams was there too and when he was out I grabbed another one with him heheheh. The after party was one of my craziest moments in Japan got in the club with all the riders and started drinking Redbull Vodka and shitload of Redbull Vodka and like life is crazy i am too so just got randomly naked in the club (they said its normal in japan hahah).

After this at 5am in the morning I toke Matthias bike and turned a corner and wiped out, went back at the hotel and grabbed a last beer. Everybody slept for 4 hours and it was time to go back to Tokyo, I was rolling with Tombo and the french guy in the back and they where all sleeping but scared that the driver would fall asleep. So as a good Quebecer I grabbed some more boose and started to party in the car to keep the driver awake. Dont know why but i still had a lot of energy, then a little problem occur I ran out of beer! Shit they dont sell them on the highway! Ouch that hurt emotionaly and physically but Uchiee had the greatest idea on earth, stop by at the beach it was awesome! We where all chilling there and i kept on drinking , eating and partying with the Tokyo rider. We hit the road and i just past out in the car, when i woke up Alex and his wife told me I was stinking alcohol in the whole car, Quebec style. The next day was great, we went shopping and site seeing in the most beautiful and clean city i had seen so far.

The last night was super cool too, we had a great meal at another japanesse BBQ, after this we hit a Karaoke bar, dance and getting crazy one last time, it was all included, alcohol and food yeah i love Japan. Yohei drove us back to his house and the sun was rising for the last time. Raphael wanted one last drink of booze so why not, we watched a French movie called Dikkenek, this movie was awesome but a bit difficult to understand but so funny. The next morning they all drove me to the bus to go back to the airport, almost missed it by a minute. The ride was ok but i was not happy to leave Japan, this why i am going back in January 2010.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story and hope you enjoyed it.
Big up for everybody who helped me on this trip.
